David Burgess - WCMF Conductor

David Burgess is a prominent musician and teacher in this area. He is Director of Music at All Saints Church, Botley where he also serves as deputy church warden. In addition, he is an active member of the Royal School of Church Music in the Portsmouth Area, as the representative of the Bishops Waltham Deanery. He has run courses for Junior Choristers and is an examiner for RSCM singing awards.

Since gaining his Degree in Education at King Alfred’s College, Winchester, David has been awarded Diplomas in Piano performing, teaching and accompanying. Until July 1998 he was Head of Music at Cams Hill School, Fareham, where he still works as a peripatetic piano, recorder and keyboard teacher. He is also class music teacher and recorder specialist at three Junior and Infant schools in the Bishops Waltham area.

David is a member if the Society of Recorder Players and has conducted the Wessex branch as well as being invited to conduct a Playing Day for the South London branch. Next year he is guest conductor for the Guildford branch.

David was appointed Musical Director of Botley Choral Society in September, 1990, and conducted the Winchester and County Music Festival Concerts in Romsey Abbey in May 2004 and 2006.
